The Southern region of Seattle, AKA the Soufend, is more than a location. It is a state of mind. It is our home. There are issues within the city that are impacting our community. Right side up or upside down, may we stick together through these changes:
I have roamed
This golden road
Long enough, (what did you see)
It has not been the same,
This golden edge,
And I’m afraid
Of our change;
Our spring has seen an end,
Dried out by redlines,
An Occidental horizon,
Looking down the hill
Where are my friends? (where is my home);
Looking up the street
New flowers in bloom,
Every turn, something new,
Old roots, they remove;
We made it
What it is today;
Since way back they push us out,
We make the Souf, (we make the Souf)
Here we go again
They want us out; (want us out)
This golden light
Has condensed,
But not eliminated
Is our spirit,
Flip it either way
And this garden
Will not bend;
“CHASE OUT THE #SOUF”
But who’s running the streets? (what did you see)
The rose from concrete
Now has feet;
An ability to transcend (the Souf);
Mark those words,
May we assemble,
Annual Perennials,
Cause Unity is Strength,
A Kingdom of Golden Roses,
The words ascend
Welcome to the Soufend.
